Julia Creuheras creates living artifacts\u2014kinetic entities that look toward the constructions of the body (especially the feminized one) in order to rethink the ways in which it has been coded and transformed into a spiritless subject, an automaton that reacts to the desires of others (tic-tac-heel). Driven by Agential Materialism, she works with resins and translucent materials that blur and soften the apparent dichotomy between matter and light. To \u201cgadgetize\u201d around this is her way of embracing the much-needed imaginings of how to coexist. The artist presents us with animated sculptures that move with a hypnotic cadence, producing choreographies that transport us to a dreamlike and unsettling space. However, the mechanisms responsible for breathing life into these objects (move-animate-soul) are deliberately hidden, present only as an echo, a faint sound reminding us that behind all magic there is always a trick, and that behind every body lie thousands of meanings that activate it for the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She studied Visual Arts at Camberwell College of Arts in London and holds a master\u2019s degree in Computational Arts from Goldsmiths College in London. She has exhibited her work in spaces and institutions such as The Ryder Projects (Madrid, 2024), Museo delle Mura (Rome, 2022), Intersticio (Madrid, 2022), Van Fanny Freytag (Amsterdam, 2025), Lab 36 (Barcelona, 2025), St. James Church (London), APT Gallery (London, 2018), Copeland Gallery (London, 2018), and Tate Modern (London, 2017). She has undertaken artistic residencies at Centre Lo Pati (Baladre, 2025) and 99 CANAL (New York City, 2024). She is currently developing a project called Ales de Paper<\/em> together with Marian Brea, in collaboration with Save the Children, a project dedicated to childhood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
