{"id":2790,"date":"2023-10-31T08:15:28","date_gmt":"2023-10-31T08:15:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/galeriabelmonte.com\/artista\/lucia-bayon\/"},"modified":"2025-12-03T10:53:51","modified_gmt":"2025-12-03T10:53:51","slug":"lucia-bayon","status":"publish","type":"artista","link":"https:\/\/galeriabelmonte.com\/en\/artista\/lucia-bayon\/","title":{"rendered":"Luc\u00eda Bay\u00f3n"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Bay\u00f3n&#8217;s practice manifests itself mainly through sculpture, focusing on the articulation of compositional and formal processes that migrate from language as a starting point to other forms of presence, considering the relationship between forces, voids and intervals of relational space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through gestural insistence, her practice adopts a sensitivity to entangle the residual in a slow becoming, giving way to a gradual transformation from a context of manual production to the use of industrial processing techniques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She holds a bachelor\u2019s degree in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid and studied at the Universit\u00e4t der K\u00fcnste Berlin (studio Josephine Pryde), and holds a Master&#8217;s degree in Fine Arts from the Piet Zwart Institute in Rotterdam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recent solo exhibitions include Galer\u00eda Belmonte (Madrid, 2024), Halfhouse (Barcelona, 2024), and Intersticio (Madrid, 2022). In 2026, CA2M will host her first institutional solo exhibition. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions in galleries, institutions, and independent spaces in Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, London, Santander, and Vienna, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She has received awards such as the Plastic Arts Grant (Bot\u00edn Foundation, 2019), Generations (Montemadrid Foundation, 2020), and Circuitos (Community of Madrid, 2020; As well as she has participated in residencies and independent study programmes such as Matadero (Madrid, 2022), Tabakalera (Donostia, 2022), Praxis (fluent, Santander, 2023), Gasworks (London, 2024) and Ezprogui (directed and curated by I\u00f1igo Villafranca in Navarra, 2025).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, Bay\u00f3n runs <em>digestivo<\/em>: an initiative that hosts exhibitions, focusing on the correspondence and resonance between practices through processual and collaborative dynamics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>digestivo<\/em> was founded in 2019 by artists Luc\u00eda Bay\u00f3n and Lukas Me\u00dfner as a project space between two flats in Rotterdam, often operating around the central theme of material experimentation, in and around the kitchen. Between 2020 and 2024, digestivo collaborated with galleries and institutions at national and European level on an itinerant basis.
